Inner Alchemy
Tuesdays 8:15am
A foundational Qi Gong practice, offered in a progressive 3-part series.
Part 1: Tian Gan/Heavenly Stem
Part 2: Qi Cultivation
Part 3: 12 Standing Postures
Part 1 will focus on Tian Gan/Heavenly Stem. This set of rotational exercises loosens the spine while cultivating full body strength and coordination. We'll learn to draw power up from the legs, through open and relaxed hips, to the arms and hands.
Each week, class will culminate with the practice of Push Hands. This is a non-combative partnered exercise that teaches sensitivity, timing and the production and acceptance of force. It puts our standing meditation and Qi Gong exercises into action with another person.
Turning the Circle
Fridays 8:15am
A martial practice for wellbeing.
Chinese "internal" martial arts draw their power from the cultivation of internal energy (qi) rather than muscular strength and speed.
As the last martial art to form in China, Ba Gua Zhang melds Qi Gong* and refined internal boxing skills with Taoist circle walking meditation. It is an art form that produces dimensional change and growth—a self that is calm and relaxed, yet structured and agile.
Ba Gua is rooted in ancient Chinese medicine. In this class, we will explore martial expression in relation to practical healing modalities—opening a fun and engaging space for skill-building and community care.
Class is highly accessible and no experience of any kind is required.
